- Identify the Refined Problem Statement: Design a device that can convert wind energy into large amounts of electrical energy to provide power to the people of Kingston.
- Create an objective tree for turbine blades to find out constraints, objectives and functions.

Top three objectives: effective energy conversion, environmental friendly, cost effective.
- Make a final statement for the design object using the objective tree above:
Design a component for a high-producing renewable energy system that generates power for the population of Kingston.
- Find out the associated metrics:

- Calculate the MPI using corresponding MPI formulas. (MPI Strength, MPI Stiffness).
- Using the MPI result to choose available materials using Granta Chart. Set the result as the slope of the line, Y-axis as Young’s Modulus, X-axis as Price times density:

- Give rates to the materials above the line to choose the one that matches all requirements from the assigned scenario.

- Build the model of turbine blades using Autodesk Inventor, and then test the deflection.
